Dr. Bill Harrod joined IARPA in January of 2018. In his current assignment as a Program Manager, Dr Harrod focuses on areas of scientific research that include nanoscale image reconstruction algorithms, strategic computing, and trusted microelectronics. He is presently leading IARPA's efforts on the AGILE program that aims to revolutionize computer architectures for our nation's strategically essential data challenges. He also manages the SuperCables program that aims to develop egress solutions for cryogenic electronics to help meet the IC’s need for energy efficient electronics and sensitive detection systems. Dr. Harrod also manages the RAVEN program that aims to develop a prototype analysis tool for acquiring images from all layers in a 1 cm2 area of a 14nm integrated circuit, within 25 days.
Prior to joining IARPA, Dr. Harrod worked at the Department of Energy from 2011 to 2018 where he served as the Research Division Director in Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR). From 2005 to 2010, Dr. Harrod served as a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Dr Harrod graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Ph.D. in mathematics. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Emory University.
