Noel Wheeler joined IARPA in August of 2021. In his current assignment as a Program Manager, Mr. Wheeler focuses on areas of scientific research that includes Artifical Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), high performance, heterogeneous, and edge computing as well as architectural modeling and simulation. He is presently leading IARPA's efforts on the MicroE4AI program that aims to cultivate AI/ML capabilities for edge computing devices. His program is investigating algorithms, material science and innovative fabrication approaches seeking to create the next generation of microelectronics operating in space, weight and power constrained environments.
Prior to joining IARPA, Mr. Wheeler worked at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences from 2012-2021 where he served as a researcher investigating the development and application of tools capable of modeling and simulating high performance computing architectures.
Mr. Wheeler graduated from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in 1995 with a Master's degree in computer science. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in science and electrical engineering, from JHU in 1991.
Mr. Wheeler currently resides on a farm in northern Maryland where he and his wife keep and train horses.
