U.S. intelligence experts are asking industry for ideas on developing networks of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) for covert surveillance of international ship traffic in important harbors, waterways, and choke points. Officials of the U.S. Intelligence Advanced Projects Agency (IARPA) in Washington issued a sources-sought notice Tuesday (IARPA-BAA-16-09) for the UnderWatch project.

Sometimes a great offense is much better than a stout defense, especially when it comes to protecting enterprise assets. This week the advanced technology developers from the Intelligence Advance Research Projects Activity (IARPA) office put out a Request For Information about how to best develop better denial and deception technologies – such as honeypots or deception servers for example -- that would bolster cyber security.


In warfare — both physical and cyber-based — the act of deception can be at times more useful than an outright attack. Or at least that’s what the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity is thinking, based on a call that its contracting officers put out this week.


A new initiative from the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence aims to create an intelligent surveillance system that can analyze live video and spot suspicious behavior in real time. According to Defense One, the research project is called Deep Intermodal Video Analytics (a.k.a. DIVA) and it will be a joint effort between academics, the private sector and ODNI's Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency.


A video software platform straight out of "Minority Report" that layers over live cameras, combining facial recognition technologies with an analytics component to decipher activity and behavior, is in the works....The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity announced a Proposer’s Day last week for a new program called Deep Intermodal Video Analytics, which aims to "produce a common framework and software prototype for activity detection, person/object detection and recognition across a multi-camera network,” the announcement reads.
